Dolpo trekking in nepal, a land beyond the Himalaya, conjures up visions of mysterious monasteries, snow leopards and blue sheep. the Dolpo trekking in nepal is situated in the western part of the country, and the Dolpo trekking in is one of the most remote region in Nepal. Our way follows much of the path taken by Peter Mathiessen and George Shaller as described in “The Snow Leopard. Dopla trekking is only by special permit that we are able to offer this trek through the Dolpo. (Permits are $710 per person for 10 days, $910 per person for 13 days and $70 per day thereafter).
Participants must be in good shape, for we are at high height much of the time on this trip. Five passes over 5,015m/16,500ft are crossed, and steep climbs and descents are complete.
The best known of the many isolated high Himalayan valleys across northern Nepal, Dolpo preserves one of the last remnants of traditional Tibetan Culture. Surrounded by high mountains including the Dhaulagiri massif to the southeast and cut off by high passes closed by snow half the year, Dolpo is close to Tibet, where people emigrated from perhaps 1,000 years ago.
Dolpo remains a truly isolated corner of Nepal. Time has stood still here for centuries as the inhabitants of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done since time immemorial. The finally preserved Eco–system encompasses a wild and wonderful variety of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and leopard. A trek through Dolpo is an experience not easily forgotten.
