The homely trails in this area are geographically placed about 30 kilometers north of Kathmandu. The Tamang Heritage Trek goes along off-the-beaten trails and gives trekkers some new exploits on homely trails that’s just like it is at home. The loveliness of the mountains in view that mixes with the culture of the local folks is a wonderful experience in the gentle wilderness of this trail with not much altitude problems. We hike into friendly Tamang villages where its lifestyles, culture and crafts tells us of traditions where time has stopped in the villages we move through; the colorful lively settlements show us how this ethnic community who are far more warm and congenial than the other communities of Nepal go about their daily chores in Nepal’s rural areas as we notice a tradition that’s so much different to the way we live in our own countries. Backpackers get a warm reception wherever they tread throughout the course of their journey on this sublime trek that warms the heart. Trekkers will be amazed with the unique costumes and the exceptional architecture of the mountain homes and ancient tranquil monasteries. We walk by sublime wilderness environments and gorgeous landscapes of alpine territory, plain lush green meadows and delightful rhododendron forests on our way…

Most of the local folks of this zone are considered to have inherited their lineage from the Tibetans of Kerung who wedded with Tamangs of the Helambu region. The Tamang communities are mostly seen to be residing on the higher altitudes where their survival is based on transferring cultivation based on weather patterns and drawing out of forest products. Primarily, many of them are sheep and yak herders but cultivate robust grains and vegetables. Most of their regular actions include raising livestock, agriculture and bartering in different essential commodities with the Kerung tribes in Tibet. They also weave baskets and mats from mountain bamboo which they sell in weekly setup markets where people from neighboring districts meet up to purchase their needs.

During the course of your journey, you relish the superb views of Langtang Lirung at (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass at (5122m.), Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges. Coupled with this, you find over 70 glaciers of different sizes and high altitude lakes which include: Gosainkunda, Pravatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda. These lakes are much revered by hindus from Neighboring India and also people from all over Nepal.

Our venture commences from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and goes along through Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure, Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang valley and Kyangjin Gompa. Goljung, Gatlang and Langtang are typical Tamang villages with extaordinary cultural facets that surprise visitors to this area.
