The journey commences in Kathmandu, where we will experience the richness of the capital before catching a flight to Lukla. This alpine village serves as the entryway to the Everest region. However, from Dingboche, the sights look similar to an island jutting out from a sea of ice; and this is how Island gets its name.
Our trip to Island peak starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and similarly ends at Lukla. After cutting across Everest base camp, we reach Lhotse Shar, a well-known trekking trail. This is what makes Island peak more famous in comparison to other peaks.
Another vital trail is Gokyo Valley, which we experience when walking up to Island peak. We don’t have to walk long distances on the trail of Island Peak, but the jagged rocks and an ice wall with narrow summit ridges put our skills to the test while clambering up.
We don’t need to worry much about the high altitudes because our climbing will have much acclimatization on the way. While climbing island peaks, we also get the opportunity to climb some unknown mountains in the Khumbu region.
